What's Wrong With Net Neutrality
With the rumored deal between Verizon and Google supposedly being announced this coming Monday, Net Neutrality is about to go front and center again in the media.
There are two issues with NN. First, is the issue that companies who can afford to pay for premium speeds are going to end up effectively blocking out the little guys who can’t afford to pay. That means blogs, personal websites,...

My Greatest Fears
There are four things I’m really afraid of in life. Two of them are sort of normal, everyday phobias: heights and spiders. The other two are a bit more complicated: mediocrity and irrelevance.
The idea that I will go through life only achieving mediocre results, and that my contributions to this world will be irrelevant, scares the crap out of me.
I’d rather fail miserably than...
There’s a real problem with the way they teach kids about diversity and prejudice and all those related topics in the U.S. (and probably elsewhere, but I’m only familiar with the way it’s done here). We’re taught from a very young age that not only is everyone equal, but everyone is essentially the same. Differences aren’t acknowledged. Sure, we may be told that...

Iron Man 2
Went to see Iron Man 2 yesterday afternoon. I have to say it was fantastic. If you liked the first Iron Man, you’ll almost definitely like the second one. Robert Downey, Jr. was fantastic (and hot). Mickey Rourke was fantastic (and surprisingly hot, if you like the greasy-villain look). Scarlett Johansson was good, but other than setting up for the next movie, not really necessary. The plot...
Nathan Fillion is damn sexy.

Children killing parents. Nations tearing apart due political opposition. Schools closing. Teachers going bankrupt. Satin golden pockets continuing to be lined. Poverty. Hunger. Lost....

25 Things you should know about Other People

1. Most people hide their suffering better than you think, you pass dozens of people a day on the street without any idea how well they’re wearing their tragedies. 2. People’s names are the sweetest sounds they hear. You should make a point of being good at learning and using them. 3. People love...

Day 1
I’m starting a fruit and yogurt fast/diet today. The plan is to do it for five days and see how I feel, and if I feel good about it, I may continue it longer. I’m hoping I can get so adjusted to eating super-healthy stuff that I’ll find the thought of junk food/sweets/bread completely unappetizing.
So far today I’ve had a Stonyfield Farms organic peach smoothie and a...

The Day From Hell
Today was the day from hell, and yet I’m in a surprisingly good mood. Here’s what went wrong:
Woke up and the power was out. Why? Because we got 12” of wet, heavy snow overnight. Power came back on within minutes, though. So I watched an old episode of Angel in bed until the satellite cut out because of the still-raging snowstorm.
Internet was out. Comcast’s online chat...
